ITANAGAR, May 24:The All Arunachal Pradesh Anganwadi Workers & Helpers Union has requested the state government to direct the concern ICDS to withdraw the mass termination order of Anganwadi workers and helpers issued recently.

In a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister, AAPAW&HU, President, Nalo Sonam while highlighting the plight of the terminated employees stated that “Almost 95 percent of workers of ICDS serving since last 20-25 years are illiterate and after termination they are facing huge difficulties in maintaining their families as they do not have additional source to sustain their livelihood.”

Also referring to the work environment and functioning of ICDS centers in other states, Sonam alleged that other than Arunachal, no State in the country had ever terminated such huge number of senior Anganwadi workers and helpers till date that too without any valid reason.

“If the termination continues then all Angwanwadi workers and helpers may be paralyzed and Anganwadi centers may become defunct very soon,” asserted Sonam while also demanding the CM to immediately transfer the Deputy Director, ICDS Khonsa/Longding and revoke the termination order of 60 Anganwadi workers issued by him last year.

Construction of Permanent Anganwadi workers centers with basic facilities like, toilet, bathroom, Playground, Boundary wall etc, implementation of current norms for appointments in respect of new appointees etc are others demand of the organization.
