ITANAGAR, Aug 21: Health Minister Alo Libang today launched the Integrated Health Campaign for Capital Itanagar at the Community Hall, Chimpu.
MLA Techi Kaso, Mission Director NHM Marge Sora, Dr Dondu Wahge Director Of Health Services, Dr Mandip Perme DMO ICC, Taro Tagia ZPM, Lokam Anand Corporator and a host of officers from the Department of Health and Family Welfare and students were also present.
The Minister recalled the adage 'health is wealth’ while stressing that good health of a person is his real wealth and urged the citizens especially the students to stay away from evils like drugs.
He urged that the present generation should should lead the way for the upcoming generation. Hence, it is necessary for the students to refrain themselves from falling into the web of social evils, he said.
Libang lauded the team of Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society(APSACS), Department of H&FW and the District Administration Namsai for successfully conducting the first Integrated Health Campaign in their district which is being replicated across other states of the country. The campaign aims to promote HIV testing along with range of other services like testing and treatment for tuberculosis(TB), Hepatitis B&C, diabetes, hypertension, anaemia etc.
The Minister hoped that the campaign would benefit a number of people and urged all to come forward and avail the opportunity of various medical services provided by the camp.
MLA Kaso stressed that  it is time that all make a collaborative effort to stop the menace of drugs to safeguard the future generation. He too urged the students to stay away from social evils and hoped that with the cooperation of all the denizens, the campaign would be a successful one.
Earlier, Dr Riken Rina, Project Director APSACS, DHS Naharlagun informed that the primary objective of IHC is to identify new HIV positive cases with co-morbidities among Key Populations (KPs) and provide comprehensive service package to care, support and treatment under NACP, NVHCP, NHM, Social Protection and Benefit Schemes, etc.  
"As injecting drugs with shared needles, syringes or drug equipment can directly transmit HIV from an infected person to an uninfected person, hence with the rise in cases of drug abuse, the cases of HIV is also on the rise. Therefore, it is important to aware the citizens and to conduct such health screening camps," Riba said.
He informed that a total of 79 camps have been proposed for the Capital and few blocks of Papumpare Which would be completely free of cost.
Dr Mandip Perme DMO thanked all for their participation and hoped that with the effort of all stakeholders, IHC would be conducted successfully.
