ITANAGAR, Aug 16: Chief Minister Pema Khandu claimed that all 13-point demands put forth by a body spearheading the APPSC fiasco, the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC), have been fulfilled. The Chief Minister assured the people that detailed information regarding these achievements would be made public in the coming days.
Speaking to the media over the ongoing investigation into the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) fiasco, Khandu informed that he had already met with the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) and urged him to stay updated on the progress of the investigation conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
"Despite recognizing the autonomy of the CBI, I have stressed the importance of cooperation in ensuring a thorough and efficient investigation," he added.
When asked about the investigation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the matter, the Chief Minister disclosed that an official request had been made for the ED's intervention. He further elaborated that the CBI has a dedicated wing responsible for investigating financial linkages in such cases, implying that both the ED and CBI are working in tandem to trace any potential money trail associated with the APPSC fiasco.
"The incident has not only affected the sentiments of the youth and the public but has also deeply affected me personally. We must now focus on being part of the solution rather than contributing to the problem," said the CM.
In a sharp rebuttal to Chief Minister Pema Khandu's recent claims, Vice Chairman of the PAJSC, Tadak Nalo, has accused the state government of misleading the public and failing to fulfill promises. Nalo asserted that the government's actions contradicted its assurances, citing a written commitment made by Chief Minister Khandu on February 18 last, which promised the fulfillment of all 13-point demands.
Nalo also criticized the state government for what he levelled as empty promises and their decision to suspend PAJSC's Chairman, Techi Puru, from his government job. According to Nalo, this move by the state government demonstrated hypocrisy on their part. He pointed out that on February 18 last, Chief Minister Khandu had commended Puru for his efforts in raising awareness against corruption. However, Nalo highlighted that the government's stance shifted, resulting in Puru's suspension several months later.
Further, Nalo disclosed that numerous aspirants have staged a protest, holding a dharna (sit-in demonstration) at Tennis Court Itanagar today, to demand the state government to revoke Techi Puru's Suspension Order and urgently address the issues surrounding the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) fiasco. The protesters are seeking a swift resolution to the matter and are expressing their dissatisfaction with the state government's response thus far.

One-Man Commission constituted to probe APPSC question paper leakages from 2014 to 2022

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards addressing the alleged question paper leakages in recruitment examinations conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) by constituting a One-Man Inquiry Commission headed by Justice P.K. Deka (Retd).
The Inquiry Commission has been tasked with thoroughly investigating the reported incidents of question paper leakages during the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission examinations held from April 1, 2014, to August 31, 2022. This investigation will encompass examining any lapses that may have occurred on the part of officers, officials, and other stakeholders involved in the recruitment process.
The order also added that the Commission will propose effective remedial measures aimed at ensuring a transparent and fair recruitment process. The Commission is empowered to summon individuals for testimonies under oath, request the submission of relevant documents, accept evidence presented in the form of affidavits, and analyse pertinent documents, stated the order released by the Chief Secretary.
Further, the Inquiry Commission has been advised to deliver its comprehensive report within a span of three months. The report will shed light on the findings, recommendations, and potential remedial actions required to address the alleged question paper leakages and enhance the integrity of recruitment processes conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Forming s Commission and investigation under a Retired Judge is one of the demands of the PAJSC 13-point demand.
