ITANAGAR, Aug 21: Reacting to the proposed draft of Arunachal Pradesh Marriage and Inheritance of Property Bill, 2021, Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF) has outrightly opposed the ‘Bill’.
In its representation to the Chief Minister, AITF has urged the state government to reject   the same and not to allow any further discussion on the issue. The customary laws, law of the land under the provisions of various existing Acts and Statutes are already in place to regulate the system of marriage, divorce and acquiring & inheritance of properties, stated the press communiqué.
Further, speaking to the media, President AITF – Bengia  Tolum  urged the state government to  reject the draft in its Cabinet meeting, so that no further discussion would be held on the said draft.
Meanwhile, AITF also urged the government as regards to the follow up action on the infamous Kimin episode of 17th June last depicting Kimin as Bilgarh in Assam.
In case, no appropriate action is taken on time on the issues mentioned above and if any untoward incidents happen thereafter in future on these issues, we shall not be held responsible, cautioned AITF in its statement.
