KHONSA/CHANGLANG, Mar 21: Hundreds of people resorted to protest in Khonsa today demanding justice for Reatto Kakho who was allegedly killed in crossfiring between Assam Rifles and NSCN.
Holding placards and shouting slogans against the Assam Rifles, the agitated public approached towards the Assam Rifles camp and resorted to sloganeering.
Earlier, All Tirap District Students Union also called bandh in the district against the killing.
Speaking to media, General Secretary All Tutsa Students Union (ATSU) Khuntik Kunsai condemned the killing of an innocent civilian by the Armed forces in the district. He further claimed that Reatto Kakho was never part of any insurgent group. He was a panchayat leader and a former Gram Panchayat leader, he said.
Meanwhile, a Candle light vigil was also held at Changlang district jointly organised by Tirap , Changlang and Longding People's Forum and All Tutsa Welfare Society -Changlang Unit .
"We strongly condemn such incident by Assam Rifles, they are here for the safety of common people but here the story is different," stated General Secretary -Samhom Sawin. He also slammed the NSCN for using civilians as human shield, due to which many innocent lives have been lost.
