ITANAGAR, Sep 21: After a hiatus of over six months, "doubt clearing" sessions for classes IX-XII resumed in schools across the state on Monday following the direction of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)  in its Unlock 4.0 guidelines.
When contacted , Education Minister, Taba Tedir said that the state government has decided to open schools from September 21 for students from class IX to XII so as to allow students to clear doubts or get rid of any confusion regarding their studies after due consent from parents.
“Classes from  I-VIII are continuing through online mode where internet connectivity is good. Students living in places where there is no network connectivity have been given a worksheet, which has to be submitted to the subject teachers every month,” Tedir said.
Tedir stated that class IX-XII students can voluntarily attend schools to clear up any doubts or confusion about any subjects  while maintaining COVID guidelines and with due prior consent from parents.
The Education minister disclosed that the state government through the state education department has issued a letter to all Heads of secondary and higher secondary schools including DDSEs, VPs across the state to attend to any confusion or doubt regarding the subjects of IX-XII students while strictly following school reopening guidelines (SOP) of the Centre.
Regarding the compartment examination slated to be  held from Tuesday, Tedir said that reduced strength, wearing of mask and use of sanitizer will be the norm while conducting the examination.
“Don't share drinking water bottles and pen, pencil  with others, wear mask and gloves compulsorily, and use sanitizer,” he appealed to students appearing for the compartment exam.
He disclosed that video conference session will be conducted on September 29 with all heads of the institution of 283 higher secondary level schools across the state to review or gather inputs regarding the recent decision to partially  open schools.
On National Education Policy, Tedir welcomed the policy saying that the new NEP is comprehensive and far-sighted with emphasis to reform foundational learning among students.
“ I'm of firm belief that the new NEP will increase a sense of competitiveness among the minds of young students and discourage the system of rote learning method ,” Tedir emphasized.
Tedir said that the education department has been rigorously promoting the new education policy and raising awareness about it across the state through video conferencing, rallies, webinars involving Intellectuals, professors from RGU, and political leaders, etc.
