PASIGHAT, May 24:After much uproar and exchange or words over the Lower Siang issue, Deputy Commissioner East Siang, Tamiyo Tatak today has appealed the members of the Adi and Galo communities to preserve and uphold the age-old ties between the two.

The DC has also expressed concern over insensitive and provocative writings of few individuals in print and social media which ultimately aggravate the situation.

‘It has been observed in print and social media that, issues relating to East Siang and Lower Siang have been blown out of proportion without any authentic and positive co-relation of the facts on the ground. Both the brotherly tribes have been living peacefully for generations together like a single family,’ DC Tatak said.

Asserting that, the district administration is committed to maintain peace and harmony at all cost, he said that no major incidents causing loss of life and property has taken place so far in the district except few stray incidents.

Administration has always been proactive to promote, preserve and uphold the age-old ties of brotherhood through discussions and of any issue between the two for greater interest of both the communities and at times walked extra miles beyond the routine works so as to facilitate amicable settlement of any issue or dispute relating to the district bifurcation, the statement released by the DC read.

“I strongly believe that this issue can be sorted out amicably, sitting together with good wisdom and trust involving elected and senior citizens of society, quoted Tatak in his statement. The DCfurther informed that administration is all set to convene a “Peace Committee Meeting” soon on May 27 next with the active cooperation of members of both the community leaders including MP ( Lok Sabha), all MLAs of East Siang mediating the issue for an early and mutually acceptable solution.

He fervently appealed media houses and all sections of society not to publish and upload any provocative reports or comments relating to East Siang and Lower Siang issue till such amicable settlement is sorted out.
