NAMSAI, Jul 13: District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meeting was held today at Namsai under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Namsai, S. Mining in presence of ZPC Namsai, Nang Urmila Mancheykhun.
ZPC Namsai stated that such initiatives which brings about convergence of departments for work execution at village level is the need of the hour. She advised all to work in cohesion for ironing out the issues related to development in each panchayat.
Presiding over the meeting, ADC called for coordination from all the convergent departments in order to ensure successful implementing of government schemes and policies. He urged the Member secretaries to conduct regular interdepartmental meetings to formulate strategies for monitoring and better planning for each panchayat.
EE, (PHED), Radhe Raja gave an overview of the objectives, targets set and achievements of JJM and SBM in the district. While explaining, special focus was given to SBM. The concept of ODF+, Components of ODF sustainability and black and grey water were explained.
He stated that achieving ODF+ status and fulfilling the target of setting one soak pit per household for grey water management cannot be achieved solely by the department and requires convergence from Panchayati Raj and RD department as well.
He further highlighted the different strategies which needs to be adopted for achieving the objectives of JJM and SBM and roles and functions of DWSM as well as ongoing activities under Jal Jeevan Mission in Namsai District.
Highlighting the importance of convergence DPDO, W. Mossang urged the line departments to be an active party during conduct of Gram Sabhas. He further said that the component of sanitation shall be taken under MGNREGA and a proposal for additional labour budget shall be presented. He also requested that plans of PHED be shared well in advance so that the Member Secretaries can incorporate feasible plans in the GPDP.
The meeting was attended by all the Member secretaries, BDO, officers PHED, RD and PR departments.
