AALO, Aug 27: In a major breakthrough, Aalo Police have arrested Nur Hussain (41 resident of Jyoti Path, Ghoramara, Hatigaon, Kamrup (M), Assam, who had been absconding for months after allegedly cheating victims in a high-profile BSNL tower construction case.
The accused was wanted in Aalo PS Case No. 08/25 under Sections 318(4)/3(5) BNS. Despite repeated summons, Hussain deliberately went into hiding, switched off his phone, and avoided all contact with complainants and law enforcement agencies to evade arrest.
The case stems from an agreement Hussain had entered into with victims for the construction of seven BSNL towers in West Siang and Upper Subansiri districts. While initial work, including material management and payment of running bills, progressed smoothly, disputes arose upon completion, leaving the complainants unpaid. After exhausting all efforts, the victims finally approached Aalo Police, leading to the registration of the case.
A special police team comprising SI Gungte Chapi, ASI Marli Sora, ASI (D) Karjum Bagra, and Ct. Manab Jyoti Gogoi, under the direct supervision of Inspector Yomken Riram, OC PS Aalo, with the active support of Hatigaon Police personnel, traced Hussain through advanced electronic surveillance and precise intelligence inputs. He was eventually apprehended from Guwahati, Assam.
Investigations have further revealed that Hussain operated his business under the banner of Onfaori Enterprise, which, along with Page Digitech, is now under police radar for deeper scrutiny.
