ITANAGAR, Nov 13: The Women’s Wing of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), led by its President Ponung Darang, strongly condemned the recent incidents of ragging at Sainik School, East Siang, and the sexual assault case reported from Mebo, during a press briefing held today at the Arunachal Press Club, Itanagar.
Describing both incidents as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable in a civilized society,” President Ponung Darang asserted that such acts not only violate human dignity but also shatter the sense of safety that educational institutions must uphold.
The Union demanded stringent legal and institutional action against all those involved and urged authorities to ensure stronger accountability mechanisms within schools and colleges across the state.
Reaffirming the Women Wing’s commitment to protecting students’ rights, Darang further stressed the need for regular awareness campaigns, gender-sensitivity training, and vigilant monitoring systems to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
