ITANAGAR, May 23:In the backdrop of the Centre’s decision to give citizenship rights to Chakma-Hajong refugees, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union today held an emergency meeting of its central executive members at the NEFA Club under the chairmanship of its General Secretary Tobom Dai.

Terming it an insult to the indigenous people, AAPSU said that its stand on the issue is very clear from the day one and will not allow anyone to undermine our aspiration.  

In this regard, AAPSU has  resolved to conduct a consultative meeting on May 27 next at Banquet Hall Itanagar wherein all its former president, general secretary, former leaders, federal members, community based students’ union, NGOs etc will be invited to draw opinion for its future roadmap to fight the issue.

In support and effort to give more impetus to the ongoing fight against Chakma Hajong refugee issue former AAPSU president Takam Tatung handed over many important documents, CDs and other relevant papers of the High Power Committee led by the then chairman Sambu Singh Jt Secy North East MHA to AAPSU President Hawa Bagang.  

AAPSU also took the opportunity to facilitate its Vice President (Protocol) Tayuk Sonam on being awarded PhD degree by RGU Doimukh, on the study entitled “Political Participation of the Puroiks in Arunachal Pradesh (A Case Study of East Kameng District).
