ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has threatened to call a 24hr bandh if the state government failed to take immediate action over its demands on Chakma-Hajong issue.
Speaking to reporters, the Union's Vice President, Nabam Gandhi informed that on Friday the union called a special meeting under the chairmanship of the president and central executive members and all the federal units regarding the illegal issuance of Residential Proof Certificate(RPC) by officials to more than five hundred Chakma Hajong refugees.
"AAPSU has already submitted its representation to the state government on July 18 last demanding immediate action against officials involved in issuing RPC to the Chakma-Hajong community as well as revoking constitutional rights of MLA Diyun - Bordumsa constituency," Gandhi said. He also added that during the meeting the house  decided to resort to the democratic movement in the form of 24hrs bandh on August 3 next. However, if the state government responds to our demands by end of this month we will roll back our resolution of bandh call, added the Vice President.

The AAPSU and its federal units will file FIR in every district against one Biri Joy for demeaning the Union and its cause and the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh, he added.
