ITANAGAR, Jul 4: The All Arunachal Pradesh students’ Union (AAPSU) has condemned the situated which unfolded after a freak accident in Dibrugarh, Assam resulting in people and vehicles from Arunachal being targeted.
Strongly condemning the intimidation and physical assault meted out to innocent Arunachalees, the Union said “The despicable act was carried out despite no people of the state were involved but merely that the vehicle happened to have a Arunachal registration. Some section of Assamese people have committed mayhem causing injuries and damage to people and vehicles of Arunachalee people who generally come to Dibrugarh town mainly for medical purpose. The miscreants have not even spared Arunachal Charity Home where sick patients mainly from poor financial background from the state take refuge by breaking down its main entrance gate before the Assam police intervened.”
Also pointing to the recent incident of robbery targeting people of Arunachal origin near Bogibeel Bridge, AAPSU has urged both the Assam and Arunachal Governments to take the matter seriously and give exemplary punishment to people who were involved in such senseless violence.
The AAPSU leadership today called the All Assam Students Union on the prevailing situation and apprised them in containing the violence against Arunachalees in Assam. Newsdesk
