ITANAGAR, Mar 23: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has opposed the implementation of University Grants Commission public notice to join Common University Entrance Test (CUET) dated March 21st, for the admission procedure of undergraduates level of various affiliated colleges of Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh against the current procedure based on merit basis or entrance test conducted by the University.
The AAPSU opined that RGU is the lone central university of the state where the students from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh aspires to get admission and complete their higher studies. The implementation of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will adversely affect the admission ratio of the indigenous students of the State in the University as well as students from poor financial background won’t be able to pursue their studies outside the State as it involves huge financial involvement, the union said.
The AAPSU further said that the existing system of admission in Rajiv Gandhi University gives adequate number of seats to students from outside the State who seek admission in the University. The joining of RGU in Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will only hamper the seats allocated for the indigenous students of the State. In greater interest of the student community of Arunachal Pradesh the AAPSU demands non implementation of Rajiv Gandhi University in Common University Entrance Test (CUET), the union said in a statement.
