ITANAGAR, Jul 18: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union(AAPSU) has demanded immediate suspension of the Extra Assistant Commissioner, Diyun and Deputy Commissioner, Changlang within 15 days for issuing RPC/PRC certificates to Chakma-Hajong Refugee settlers. The Union also stressed on removing benefits of MLA Diyun Bordumsa, Somlung Mossang being  enjoyed as  people's representative for "conspiring against the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh."
Addressing a press conference, General Secretary Ritum Tali said, "AAPSU has received information from reliable sources of reported illegal practices in the matter of issuing of certificates to the refugees and illegal migrants in Changlang District, which is done with the knowledge of the Deputy Commissioner of Changlang District and executed by the EAC office, Diyun."
Taking cognizance of the issuance of Residential Proof Certificate (RPC) to more than 500 Chakma-Hajong Refugee on the pretext of availing "educational and job purpose", the Union has taken note of the matter which is a serious conspiracy against the indigenous people of the State, he said.
"The matter of temporary residential proof of the refugees is designated in their respective "Refugee Card" and no such RPC is required per se.  The refugees and illegal migrants are lobbying by wilfully obtaining various certificates to validate themselves as permanent citizens of the State," the general secretary said.
"The AAPSU has also uncovered the hidden agenda run by a certain representative for gaining political mileage which is against the interest of the indigenous people and considering the gravity of the conspiracy, the AAPSU felt the situation to be critical and a threat to the existence of the indigenous people," Tali added.
Earlier, President AAPSU, Tana Dozi informed that taking note of the matter,  the Union convened an emergency meeting of the central executive members at NEFA club building on July 16 last regarding the issue of RPC to Chakma Hajong refugees and illegal migrants. AAPSU has also decided to submit its representation to the Chief Minister.
"AAPSU has received ample evidence such as electronic and other materials to support its demands. Action should be initiated within 15 days and all the RPC issued to Foreigners/Chakma-Hajong refugees and illegal migrants till date should be cancelled immediately within 15 days. Moreover, a committee should be constituted to investigate the issue and at least two members of AAPSU should be included in the committee and officials as well as people's representatives who conspired should be booked under National Security Act (NSA)," stated Dozi.
