ITANAGAR, Jan 20: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has expressed strong opposition at the state government’s decision to reinstate officials allegedly involved in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) job scam. The union has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government, demanding the immediate suspension of the accused officials. If the demand is not met, AAPSU has threatened to lock down the office of the Education Department.
The reinstated individuals include Tayang Gaduk (Head Assistant), Iken Bagra (Block Education Officer), Radek Romin (Block Education Officer), and Posi Gamlin (Block Education Officer) who were allegedly implicated in the APPSC paper leak fiasco, a scandal that severely tarnished the state’s recruitment system and shook public trust in its institutions, stated AAPSU.
Addressing the media, AAPSU Finance Secretary Byabang Hapo Dui described the reinstatement as a "grave miscarriage of justice" and criticized the move as a betrayal of the state’s efforts to rebuild public confidence following the scandal. He called the decision a “dark day” for Arunachal Pradesh and urged the government to reverse its actions to preserve the integrity of the administration.
The union has demanded that the Education Department adhere to the Hon’ble Court's directive, which permits the issuance of fresh suspension orders during ongoing departmental proceedings. AAPSU also accused the Commissioner of Education of negligence for failing to initiate timely disciplinary action against the accused. The union argued that this inaction reflects administrative failure and could be construed as a tacit endorsement of the controversial reinstatement decision.
Further, AAPSU insisted on the suspension of all individuals implicated in the APPSC job scam, emphasizing the need to maintain the sanctity of the state’s recruitment agency. The union stressed that decisive action is essential to restore public confidence in the system.
