ITANAGAR, Jul 25:In the wake of the recent decision of the Indian Nursing Council (INC) to remove all the Nursing Colleges in Karnataka from its list of affiliated institutions, a team of All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) led by its Secretary, DS & S, Marli Kamki called on the Registrar of Arunachal Pradesh Nursing Council and the Director of Medical Education and submitted a representation to safeguard the interests of Arunachalee students pursuing Nursing degree in the southern state.
The union while calling attention of both the officials to the impending crisis stated that every year large number of young Arunachalees go to Karnataka to pursue Nursing and various other courses. As a result, students aspiring to be a nurse shall find it difficult to register and practice outside the state of Karnataka and country both in government and private sector due to de-recognition of Nursing colleges in Karnataka, it said in a release.
Opining that the decision will jeopardize scores of students and aspirants, the AAPSU in view of the approaching academic session has urged the state government to liaise with its Karnataka counterpart regarding the decision and initiate necessary measures so that Arunachalee students already pursuing their Nursing degree there are not affected.
The Union further asked that necessary advisory must be issued to interested students. The matter was also earlier apprised to the Director of Higher & Technical Education, it said in a release.
