PASIGHAT, Nov 2: All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union has asked the state government  to immediately appoint Vice Chancellor for the Arunachal State University to enable its early functioning.
The apex students body along with the Adi Ba:né Kébang and AdiSU visited the university site at Hill top area of Pasighat today.
The AAPSU had full participation of all the executive members who came all the way from various parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The team led by President Hawa Bagang and General Secretary Tobom Dai, were also accompanied by the respective district units from East Siang, Siang, Upper Siang and Lower Dibang Valley. The accompanying AdiSU team was led by Nang Gao, President of AdiSU along with his district units.
After thoroughly visiting the fully constructed Administrative Block and under constructed Academic Block, the visiting teams had a successful interaction program with Dr Milorai Modi, Principal Jawaharlal Nehru College.
Talut Siram, General Secretary ABK East Siang Unit appealed to them to look for a speedy procedure for immediate functioning of the Arunachal State University. "Since the Administrative Block is ready for operation and classrooms can be made available, the state govt should not delay further to start the full functional university", he added.
AdiSU strongly appealed for immediate posting of Vice Chancellor, Registrar and COE to immediately start functioning of Arunachal State University.
Principal JNC appreciated the effort of AAPSU for a great education cause. He also emphasised on the fact that establishment and functioning of a full fledged state university in Pasighat will not only benefit Pasighat but the whole state. This year alone more than 15000 students could not pursue their Post Graduation at the lone Rajiv Gandhi University due to its limited intake capacity and therefore establishment of a full fledged State University in Pasighat will hugely benefit the students to pursue their dreams.
He has also offered to provide 8 large classrooms at lower campuses for immediate functioning of the university since the academic block is now ready for operations and till the academic block is fully ready. Such letters have already been sent out to authorities but the response from the government has been dismal so far, he added.
While responding to the appeal of ABK, Bagang said that Pasighat has always been the union's first choice because of many reasons. He was of the opinion that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh should not delay further and immediately appoint a Vice Chancellor to start the functioning of the University. He apprised further that the union will follow up with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to appoint a Vice Chancellor within this year.
