Tawang, Oct 28: The 8th Edition of the MTB Tawang Challenge concluded on a high note today, showcasing thrilling performances and competitive spirit among riders from across the country.
In the Women (XCO) category, Star Nargary from Karnataka took the top spot, followed by Pavitra Kurtakoti from Karnataka and Sandhya Morya from Madhya Pradesh in second and third places.
In the Men Elite (XCO) category, Tsewang Norboo from Ladakh clinched the first position, followed by Kushiman Gharti from the Army Adventure Wing in second place, and Shiven from Haryana in third.
In the Men Junior (XCO) category, Kevin Lyngdoh from Meghalaya emerged as the champion, while Liyum Ete from Arunachal Pradesh and John Rodrick B. Shadap from Meghalaya secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Men Elite (XCT) category, Tsewang Norboo from Ladakh once again dominated, bagging the first position, while Kushiman Gharti (AAW) and Shiven from Haryana finished second and third, respectively.
The winners were felicitated with cash prizes, certificates, and medals in a grand concluding ceremony, celebrating their endurance and excellence.
The event, organised by the Arunachal Cycling Association under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) with support from the Department of Youth Affairs, has once again reinforced Arunachal Pradesh’s growing reputation as a hub for adventure sports and mountain biking.
Prominent guests at the closing ceremony included ADC Jang Hakraso Kri, CO Jang Tage Monya, Dr. Rinchin Tsering, Medical Officer, Jang, Choten Lhamu, Owner of Green Tara Residential School, Tadar Gunu, Secretary General, ACA, and Jambey Wangchu, President, Tawang Cycling Association,Abhijit Sett, Member of the Athletes Commission, CFI, and Secretary, West Bengal Cycling Association, and E. Bhubaneswar, Retired DSP of Manipur Police, Executive Member of CFI, and Mountain Bike Commissary Member.
