Raga, Sep 20: The 5th State Level Judo Championship 2025 was inaugurated today at the Khelo India Indoor Hall, Raga, Kamle District. The event was attended by Neelam John, Chairman, Sports Authority of Arunachal as Chief Guest, and Maga August, Vice President, All Kamle District Student Union as Guest of Honour.
A total of 160 players from 19 districts are competing across four age divisions—Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, and Senior—covering 50 weight categories, with support from 25 officials. The tournament will continue till September 22.
In his address, Neelam John, appreciated the efforts of the Arunachal Judo Association (AJA) in promoting Judo across the state. Responding to the proposals placed by the Association, he assured to provide a new set of Judo mats for the Association within this year, as it presently does not own its own mats. He also assured that the matter of upgrading the Association from Category B to Category A would be taken up on priority. Furthermore, the Chairman gave his full assurance to extend support for the successful organization of a National-level Judo event in Arunachal Pradesh later this year.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, district representatives, and enthusiastic spectators. The event concluded on a high note, marking the beginning of three days of spirited competition and celebration of Judo.
