Itanagar, Sep 1:  The month long 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah has been launched across the state today by respective Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS).
In the state capital, the Urban ICDS Project, Itanagar launched the month long celebration today organising various events at Chimpu village which included an awareness rally by all ICDS staff and field staff, administering of Poshan pledge etc.
Attending the program as chief guest, Nabum Yajo, Gram chairperson Chimpu Panchayat lauded the department for providing good services for the mothers and children and also for organizing such awareness programs. 
The Child Development Project Officer, Jaya Taba, briefed about the Poshan Abhiyaan and the area of focus during the month long celebration.  She informed that under the project, various programs will be carried out in all the Anganwadi Centres on the themes - Mahila & Swasthya, Bacha & Shiksha , Gender sensitive water conservation and management ,traditional foods for women and children etc.
The program will include awareness campaign on menstrual hygiene, prevention of anaemia, sensitization sessions on water borne diseases, care and nutrition for diarrhoea affected children, yoga sessions for mothers at AWCs, awareness on rain water harvesting with the line department and tribal food fairs. Dr. Jitu Kipa, M.O CHC chimpu who attended the program as resource person spoke on prevention of anaemia and ante natal and post natal care.

Changlang: The Rashtriya Poshan Maah was launched at district headquarters Changlang with full participation of the field functionaries of the W&CD department, ASHAs, PRIs today.
EAC Dr. Mary Taloh, lauded the department for organizing the programme and advised the AWWs and AWHs and ASHAs to work with dedication by imbibing the information and ideas from this type of programme imparted by the resource persons of convergent department.
ZPM Renu Mungrey also stressed that all must ensure to promote healthy growth of children in a mission mode and called upon the AWWs to conduct pre-school classes effectively.
DRCHO Dr. J. Ado added that reducing the incidents of Child and Maternal Mortality Rate (IMR/MMR) is one of the major objective of Poshan Abhiyan and said that maximum awareness has to be raised among the community about maternal healthcare during this month.
 JE, PHED informed about the need to conserve main source of water in village areas from where water is tapped and used for drinking and other purpose. He also informed that water treatment plants will be installed in all villages of the district from where people can have access to filtered water from the source itself and emphasized on keeping the nearby areas of water source clean. 
DD(ICDS), C. Tangjang apprised all about the objectives of the Poshan Abhiyan and informed that by the end of previous year’s celebration significant improvement in growth in children below 5 years was observed due to the intervention initiated at District Level by administering IFA Syrup to around 10011 target children of Anganwadi areas and taking their anthropometric measurement. She also called upon officers of all line departments to work towards converging their village level schemes with the nutrition related schemes of W&CD department in order to bring about an improvement in the health of women and nutritional status of children. 
Namsai: 5th Rastriya Poshan Maah was launched today in Namsai district.  A plantation drive was carried out as a part of the inaugural function of Poshan Abhiyan.
