ITANAGAR, Jun 12: The state’s Covid situation saw no improvement with five more deaths on Saturday that took the casualty count to 143. However, recoveries were greater than fresh cases unlike the previous day.
At DCHC Changlang a 59-yr old male who tested Covid positive on June 10 last with several comorbidities and not vaccinated expired due to Covid pneumonia today. A 35-yr old female Covid patient from Tawang district without any comorbidity and not vaccinated died at DCHC Tawang due to Covid pneumonia and septic shock. A 45-yr old male Covid patient from the ICR suffering from renal cell cancer who was not vaccinated expired at DCH Chimpu due to ARDS and Covid pneumonia. A 45-yr old male Covid patient from Lower Siang district who was suffering from various comorbidities and vaccinated with dose 1 expired while in home isolation due to Covid pneumonia. A 23-yr old male from Lower Subansiri without any comorbidity and whose vaccination status was nil expired today at DCHC Ziro due to ARDS and Covid pneumonia.
Of the new 298 cases (asymptomatic 181; symptomatic 117) on the day, ICR again jumped to the first spot with 55, followed by Upper Subansiri 39, West Kameng 29, Namsai 26, Lohit 25 and Changlang 24. On Saturday evening (8 pm), the state had 3187 active Covid patients and 27818 recoveries. Sample collection saw an improvement over earlier day's figure with 5909 collected from across the state.
Vaccination coverage in terms of percentage for the 18-44 age group remained at 12 % with 2384 taking their first doses. In the 45+ age category, 2266 took their first dose and only 10 their 2nd dose.
On Saturday evening, occupancy status at the CCCs was 47 at DCH Chimpu, 25 at SQF Lekhi, 2 at DCHC Midpu, 13 at DCH Pasighat and 27 at DCHC.
