ZIRO, Jun 2: The Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club (APBC) in collaboration with Hapoli Forest Division, Bird Count India & E Bird India organized the inauguration cum training programme for 3rd Ziro Bird Workshop here at Hapoli on Wednesday.
In the session, Koj Mama, President, APBC, explained and highlighted the importance of the workshop. The first and second Bird Workshop were held in the year 2012 and 2018 respectively and since the very beginning, people have shown keen interest towards conservation in the area. 
Resource person, Dr. Ashwin Vishwanathan, Chintan Sheh, both Ornithologist from Bird Count India, took the session on “How to monitor and go beyond birds and how to use E Birds App and how to use Merlin App” which was later followed by short hand field exercises at Kardo Forest area, Hapoli, where participants were given basic training on the use of apps.
Abhinav Kumar Kumar, DFO, Hapoli Forest Division, while giving the key note speech, informed that during the year 2017-18 only 7-8 species of migratory birds were sighted in the Ziro Valley which rose to sighting and recording of more than 20 new different species of birds within a span of three years which is a very positive outcome of such workshop and awareness among the common public.
While lauding the efforts of APBC, general public and department as a whole, the DFO informed that a guide book on the birds of Ziro will be released on the occasion of Dree Festival on July 5 next.
In commemorating with World Environment Day, the 3rd Ziro Bird Workshop is being organized at Tale Wildlife Sanctuary from June 2-5 next.  The inaugural session was attended by the members from Tanw Supun Dukun (TSD), Apatani Women Association Ziro (AWAZ), Apatani Youth Association (AYA), Apatani Gaon Bura Buri Association, Ziro and Faculty and students from Saint Claret College, Ziro.
