PASIGHAT, Apr 29: “Donyi-Poloism is the universal surviving human attempt to organize faith and belief and perhaps the oldest religion in the world. As Donyi-Poloism grew older, many more aspects of divinity were idolized," this was stated by the IPR Director Onyok Pertin while addressing a mammoth gathering today at the Babu Oiram festival ground at Oyan few kilometers from Pasighat during the 3rd Pasighat West Yelam Kebang Donyi-Polo Youth Conference.
“We should practice our indigenous faiths and never forget that we are all from the same origin," said Pertin adding that there are "many good morals and spirituality in our own culture”. He advocated that everyone should preach and promote the verses of Ane Donyi so that goodness of indigenous religion could be spared. Pertin appreciated the Chief Patron, President and Secretary of Pasighat West Donyi-Polo Yelam Kebang (DPYK) Youth Wing Tapun Taloh, Tatem Taloh  and Shon Taning respectively for organizing the conference in a befitting manner putting all efforts. Responsibility of preservation, promotion of own language, culture and identity lies on the younger generation which was passed down by our ancestors since Abo Tani days, he further added. In his address, Pertin remembered the great reformist Golgi Bote Talom Rukbo as a God-gifted man who came forward and taught the local populace about Donyi-Poloism.
Earlier Guest of Honour Er. Gonong Pertin, EE (WRD) asserted that Donyi-Poloism was the most ideal religion. It makes no distinction and is more relevant in the present day context as its believers pray for the greater welfare of the entire humanity, he added.
Among others, Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering and former MLA Tatung Jamoh were present and spoke on the occasion. JNC Principal Dr. Tasi Taloh and Secy Publicity & Public Relations (ABK Apex) Advocate Vijoy Taram delivered lectures as resource persons.
