ITANAGAR, Sep 9: The 3rd National Lok Adalat of the year was conducted today in various Subordinate Courts of Arunachal Pradesh by a total of 25 benches constituted in the District & Session Courts wherein 340 cases of pending and 2058 cases at pre-litigation stage involving Criminal Compoundable offences, Revenue Cases, NI Act, Bank Recovery, Motor Accidents Claims, Matrimonial Dispute, labour disputes, electricity bills such BSNL Bill related cases and other civil cases were taken up. Over 379 Cases were disposed off out of total 2,398 taken up with total settlement amount of Rs. 3,28,39,784 (Rupees Three Crore Twenty Eight Lakh Thirty Nine Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Four) only. This time, Bench of CJM Court, Seppa has the highest 620 cases listed with highest disposal of 117 cases with settlement amount of Rs. 66,99,060 only.
Lok Adalat is one of the alternate dispute redressal mechanisms, a forum where the disputes or cases pending or at pre-litigation stage are settled amicably by two or more disputing parties mutually. It also reduces the burden of the courts. Lok adalat is held on a single day all across the nation.
