ITANAGAR, Aug 24: ​Arunachal Pradesh will be sending a 38-member contingent of athletes including coaches to represent the state in the 36th National Games to be held in Gujarat from September 27 to October 10 next.
 This was informed when the Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) headed by its President, Taba Tedir; Minister Education & DIA called on Minister Sports & Youth Affairs, Mama Natung at his office today. 
The Arunachal Olympic Association discussed with the Sports Minister the road map of development focusing on nine disciplines namely Athletics, Taekwondo, Boxing, Karate, Weightlifting, Archery, Wushu, Badminton & Football in the review meeting.
The Association also sought increment of financial aid for celebration of International Olympic Day, conduct of State Olympic Games  and annual grant-in-aid for overall promotion of sports in the state with the vision to produce olympians in upcoming Olympic games.
Natung assured the AOA of all possible support from the government for the promotion of sports in the state. “Our youths have the natural talent. They can excel in contact sports like boxing, judo, wrestling, karate & wushu if proper facilities and guidance is given," he said. The review meeting was attended by Chairman SAA Byabang Taj, Principal Secy Finance Sarat Chauhan, Secretary SYA Anirudh Singh, Director Sports Tadar Appa, AOA G/Secy Bamang Tago & Treasurer Bulang Marik.

A minutes silence was also observed to pay respect to kick boxer Yora Tade, who died after suffering grievous injury during a bout in the ongoing Wako India Seniors & Masters National Kickboxing Championship on Tuesday.
