ITANAGAR, Mar 26:  At least 35 dwelling houses were reduced to ashes in a fire incident  in the wee hours of Sunday near the IG Park in the state capital.No casualties were reported but significant property was lost in the inferno. The fire broke out at 2.30 am today at C-1 sector Itanagar Forest colony and reportedly started from the house of one of the residents of the area. 
The OC Fire & Emergency Services along with his team reached the spot at 3.25 am and managed to douse the fire by 6.45 am .
Fire Station Officer, Koj Gambo informed that as soon as they received the SOS call, a team rushed to the spot with four fire tenders including one from Naharlagun. The reason behind the inferno is yet to be ascertained and investigation is in process. Further, he expressed concern about the location of the incident. The incident area is congested and has no proper approach road, due to which we had to struggle to douse the fire, the official said.
The DDMO Moromi Dodum Sonam informed that the fire destroyed 26 units of Forest department barrack and 9 units of PWD CD-A houses completely.
She informed that the officers from both  departments have made alternate arrangements for their staff to stay.
However, as directed by the Corporator Yukar Yaro, Govt Middle School C sector Itanagar has been identified as relief camp and arrangements have been made for the victims to stay there. DDMO also handed over immediate relief and essential items to the victims at the spot.
MLA Techi Kaso visited the spot for taking update of the situation. He also handed over immediate relief to the victims. DC Capital Itanagar Talo Potom also visited the spot and directed the DDMO to collect the account details of victims. He informed that the district administration will process the immediate relief and the same would be credited to the account of the house owner through PFMS mode.
Meanwhile in another  incident, the Endoscopy unit of RKM was burned down today. The CO Itanagar Shania Kayem Mize along with DDMO visited the spot and informed that the cause of fire could not be ascertained as of now. However, there were no report of any casualties.
