Roing, Oct 11: Thirty one labourers of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) who were stranded in an island of the Dibang River at Bomjir since Monday due to the rise in water level, were rescued and brought to safety today. The rescue operation was carried out today by the 12th BN NDRF with the support of the district administration, Roing Police and fire service personnel and local fishermen.
The team reached the incident site at 8.15 am and all labourers were brought to a safe area by 4.15pm. The District Disaster Management Office appreciated the efforts of Gumin Lego and fishermen Nitesh Sahani, Bijay Sahani and Gajendra Sahani for their help in rescuing the labourers.
