CHANGLANG, May 25: In view of the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in Jairampur Sub-division and Namtok Circle in Changlang district, District Magistrate-cum-Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Dr Devansh Yadav under powers conferred via Sec 25 (2) (a) of the Disaster Management Act 2005 has declared the three Circles of Jairampur, Nam Pong and Namtok as Containment Zones for a period of 10 days from May 25-June 4.
Coming u/s 144 of the Cr.P.C and u/s 30 and 34(b) & (c) of the Disaster Management Act, the step has been taken keeping in mind the high positivity rates in the said Sub-divisions/Circles which has thereby escalated the chances of Covid spread in adjoining Sub-divisions. It’s pertinent to mention that on Monday, Changlang accounted for the maximum of new Covid cases in the state with 93. The containment period will be utilised by the district medical team for tracing the primary and secondary contacts of Covid positive cases. As per the order, there will be a complete restriction of movement of all residents of Jairampur Sub-division to other Circles/Sub-divisions of the district/state during the containment period.
Under Nam Pong Circle, all residents there will not be allowed to move to other villages/Circles/Sub-divisions during the period.
Under Namtok Circle, there will also be a restriction on movement of residents in as many as 10 villages.
The above restrictions will not be applicable for persons/vehicles involved in enforcement of containment plans and delivering essential services including medical emergencies. Any violation or willful disobedience of the order will attract legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act.
