LUMDUNG, Jul 16: The 1st State-Level Coordination meeting of the Public Health Engineering & Water Supply (PHE & WS) Department was conducted at Ato Ringso Hall, Lumdung, East Kameng District. The conference was chaired by Minister Mama Natung and attended by MLA-cum-Advisor to the PHE Minister, Pani Taram.
Commissioner PHE Bidol Tayeng, Deputy Commissioner East Kameng Himanshu Nigam, SP Kamdam Sikom, Zonal Chief Engineers, MD SBM, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and consultants of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) were also present.
The Chief Engineers gave detailed presentations on the progress of various ongoing Central and State Government schemes across different zones.
In his address, Advisor Pani Taram commended the Minister for organising the meeting outside the state capital, encouraging a grassroots approach. He emphasised the urgent need to strengthen the urban sewage system and called upon field officers to execute departmental schemes diligently in order to provide safe drinking water across the state.
Minister Mama Natung, in his concluding remarks, highlighted the vital role played by the PHE & WS Department in delivering essential services to the public. He congratulated the department for becoming the first in the Northeast region to achieve 100% household tap water connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He also urged officers to give special focus to Centrally Sponsored Schemes, as they are directly monitored by the PMO.
The event witnessed the participation of over 130 delegates, including field officers and consultants of JJM and SBM, marking a significant step towards strengthening coordination and implementation efficiency within the department.
