NAHARLAGUN, May 8:It was an enthralling morning at a hotel here yesterday when young school students sang and danced as part of a competition to celebrate the 157th birth anniversary of poet Rabindranath Tagore.

The programme was organised by Annesha Little Angel School and Aastha Dance Academy.

Chief Guest at the function and Editor Arunachal Front Nani Kojin highlighted the Nobel laureate's intellectual might.

He made particular reference to Tagore's penning of the national anthems of two countries -- India and Bangladesh. He also mentioned how one of the poet's students at Shantiniketan went on to write the national anthem of Sri Lanka.

Kojin praised the Bengali community in the state for its contribution to Arunachal since its inception, saying they are hard working. He also appreciated the community's inclination towards the arts saying that parents made efforts to imbibe attributes of art and culture among their children.
