ITANAGAR, Dec 22: The ASMITA City League Football Tournament among Khelo India Centres (KICs) of Arunachal Pradesh was formally inaugurated today at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA), Itanagar. 13 Khelo India Centres, with a total of 210 athletes and coaches are competing in the league which will conclude on December 27.
On the opening day, KIC Tawang emerged victorious against KIC Miao, Changlang with a scoreline of 1–0. In the second match, KIC Golden Jubilee School, Pasighat defeated KIC Namsai by 1–0.
Newly elected Corporator of Ward No. 1, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), Lokam Sikio who attended as chief guest addressed the athletes and coaches present.She encouraged the young girls to actively participate in sports, particularly football, and highlighted the growing achievements of women across various fields, terming it a positive development for the state and the nation.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Mala Lingi, Deputy Director (Sports); Karbia Dodum, Assistant Director (Sports); Likha Vidha, Principal, Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy; and Nada Apa, Sports Officer (HQ).
The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) has deputed Nani Halyi, currently serving as the Head Coach of the Arunachal Pradesh State Junior Girls Football Team, to scout promising football talents from the ASMITA City League.
