ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The Regional Sports Meet (RSM) 2023-24 got underway at the Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 at Itanagar today. AA total of 138 participants from 12 KVs from Tinsukia Region will be participating in various events like Boxing, Taekwondo and Chess in the two-day event.
The meet commenced with an impressive inauguration where Paklu Taipodia, a distinguished bodybuilder from Arunachal Pradesh, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Taipodia's remarkable achievements, including being a Gold Medalist, a national weightlifting champion, and an international arm wrestling silver medalist, served as an inspiration for all the participants. During her address, Taipodia shared her journey of perseverance and dedication, motivating the young participants to pursue their sporting dreams with determination. She generously offered to provide free training at her gym, extending her support to nurture the budding talents of the region. Taipodia also expressed her gratitude to the Principal Incharge of KV No.1, Arun Kumar Singh, for hosting such a prestigious event that provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.
A notable aspect of the RSM 2023-24 was the collaboration of various Sports Associations to ensure its successful execution. A total of nine officials from the Arunachal Amateur Boxing Association (AABA), nine officials from the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA), and two officials from the All Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association (AAPCA) were deputed to oversee and facilitate the different events. Additionally, three observers from KVS RO, Tinsukia region were present to ensure the fairness and smooth conduct of the Sports Meet.
The events were divided among different venues, with Boxing and Taekwondo taking place at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) premises, and Chess being hosted at KV No.1, Itanagar.
