NAHARLAGUN, Mar 7: The State Legislative Assembly today passed the Arunachal Pradesh Anatomy Bill 2017 by voice vote without many objections from the Members in the House.

The Bill, tabled in the House on March 6, by Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jomde Kena, aims to provide for supply of unclaimed bodies of deceased persons or donated bodies or any part of deceased persons to hospital and medical and 
teaching institutions for the purpose of anatomical examination and dissection and other similar purpose.
Responding to the few suggestions made by the members, Kena stated that along with establishment of Medical College in the 
State introduction of this bill is very important not only for the purpose of academic and other purposes in terms of anatomical examination and dissections but it will also give practical knowledge to the medical students.

The Minister also assured that the state Medical College will start functioning by the end of 2017-18.

Earlier, while supporting the Bill, Karya Bagang Parliamentary Secretary Industries, Textile, Handlooms & Handicraft said along with 
the establishment of medical college introduction of such bill is highly appreciable. It is a huge boost to the medical students. 

AH & Veterinary, Dairy Development and Art & Culture minister, Dr. Mohesh Chai, who was also in favour of the bill informed that the very first subject of a medical student is Anatomy- 
study of human body. This bill will help the medical student to increase their practical knowledge, which will make them better doctors in future, he added.
