PASIGHAT, May 15: The East Siang District Administration, Police, along with the Forest Department, carried out a destruction drive of wild Cannabis Sativa (ganja) growing over 12 acres behind the Veterinary Training Institute located at 2 Mile, Pasighat.
The operation was conducted by police personnel, forest officials, and staff from the district administration in the presence of Sanjay Taram, SDO, Town Magistrate, and Ayup Boko, DySP (In-charge of the Anti-Drug Squad).
All the necessary legal formalities, including videography of the destruction process, were duly carried out.
Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, IPS, reiterated the district police’s zero-tolerance policy against the drug menace. He further urged the public to remain vigilant and report any such illegal cultivation or growth of cannabis within the district.
