Boleng, Oct 2: Commemorating the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi Ji, Minister (RD, PR, Cooperation& Transport), Ojing Tasing inaugurated the first Panchayat Learning Centre (PLC) at Lileng Gram Panchayat under Siang District. 
He expressed happiness knowing that the PLC will offer multi-dimensional intervention on various kinds of training, capacity building, piloting of appropriate model of localization of sustainable development goals for coming days. This PLC will be catalogued with all kinds of guidelines, schemes of the central as well as state government programmes as a knowledge centre for cluster of villages for coming days. He also lauded the initiatives taken for conservation of biodiversity and for a green and clean village.   
Observing the level of facilities provided by SIRD&PR for this PLC unit, Tasing directed the line departments to draw the blue print of the Gram Panchayat to showcase the epicentre of training and capacity building hub.  
Taking into account the enthusiasm of Gram Sabha Members, Deputy commissioner of Siang district, PN Thungon called for a developmental perspective meeting to draw a workable road map for immediate interventions of various programmes at Lileng Gram Panchayats. He further assured to send a team from Siang District to Meghalaya to see Mawlynnong, the cleanest village and community forest management for better conservation of biodiversity. In addition to the mentioned initiatives 8 to 10 number of potential Gram Panchayats shall be taken up for various interventions as model Gram Panchayats.        
In continuity of the programme Dr. Narayan Sahoo, Deputy Director, SIRD&PR-cum Course Director of the Programme imparted dedicated Special Gram Sabha-cum orientation training programme covering the Comprehensive Gram Panchayat Development Plan, Localization of Sustainable Development Goals as per Sankalpa taken by Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Development Index and scoring pattern and gap identification for Panchayats. The focus of the themes of LSDG was on Child Friendly & Women Friendly Panchayat.
