Itanagar, Sep 30: In a swift and efficient operation, the Itanagar Capital Police apprehended the accused involved in the theft at Yangda Yurchum Shiv Mandir, located at 6 Kilo, Itanagar, recovering all stolen properties in the process.
The incident came to light when one  Lokam Nai of Nyokum Lapang filed a written complaint on September 19 last.  According to the complaint, an unknown individual entered the Shiv Mandir in the early hours of September 18 last, stealing a DG set battery and a water pump motor. The culprit also attempted to break into the temple’s donation box but was unsuccessful. A case was promptly registered under Section 305(a) of the Indian Penal Code, initiating a police investigation.
A dedicated team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Tatung Tari (Investigating Officer), alongside Head Constable Tabu Doyam and Constable Nabam Chakum, operated under the close supervision of Inspector Takhe Tasso. Utilizing human intelligence and rounding up potential suspects, the team zeroed in on a key suspect, 22-year-old  Bem Abraham, of 6 Kilo, Itanagar.
Through extensive interrogation, Bem Abraham confessed to committing the theft at the Shiv Mandir. Following his confession, he was formally arrested, and the stolen DG set battery and water pump motor were recovered. Abraham has since been remanded to judicial custody.
The Itanagar Capital Police commended the investigative team's prompt and diligent efforts in resolving the case and restoring the stolen properties.
