PALIN, Sep 6 : A disturbing incident has come to light in the Tali sub-division of Kra Daadi district, where a man has been arrested for secretly filming female teachers and others in the common bathroom of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV).
The suspect, identified as Farriuddin Ahmed (33), a resident of Solmoria village in North Lakhimpur district of Assam, was apprehended after victims discovered his actions.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kra Daadi, Sumit Jha, revealed that Ahmed, who is related to the school's headmistress, had been using his mobile phone to secretly record illegal videos of teachers and staff members at the all-girls residential school. "The accused had been filming in the common bathroom, and a total of nine women, most of them teachers, were victimized by his actions," said SP Jha.
The incident unfolded on Friday when some of the teachers grew suspicious of Ahmed’s behaviour and confronted him. Upon catching him in the act, they immediately reported the matter to the authorities. A formal complaint was subsequently filed, and a case was registered at Palin Police Station under Case No. 16/24, with charges framed under Section 66E of the Information Technology (IT) Act, which deals with privacy violations, along with other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
SP further confirmed that a woman officer from Itanagar has been appointed to lead the investigation, ensuring sensitivity and adherence to legal protocols throughout the process. The victims, shaken by the incident, are cooperating with authorities to bring the accused to justice.
