CHANGLANG, Sep 7: In an effort to improve the education system and enhance the academic performance of government schools in the Yatdam circle of Changlang district, a coordination meeting was held on Friday in Yatdam.
Speaker APLA Tesam Pongte, who is also the MLA of the constituency, ZPM Yatdam Miss Kepseng Khunkho, the CRC Yatdam, the General Secretary of the Tutsa Student Union, and the head teachers of 15 schools attended the meeting.
Dr. Ripi Doni, the Circle Officer of Yatdam, chaired the meeting, which primarily focused on three critical aspects: familiarizing students with OMR-based exams such as the National Academic Survey and entrance exams for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), improving reading and comprehension skills in government schools, and evaluating the performance of both teachers and students to boost academic results.
During the meeting, Speaker-APLA Tesam Pongte, while emphasizing the importance of human resources in societal development, pointed out that infrastructure alone cannot drive quality education. He stated, “While infrastructure acts as tools in the education system, it is the dedication and passion of teachers that can truly improve the quality of education.” Pongte also shared that during the recent “Chintan Shivir cum Education Conclave,” the potential privatization of education was discussed, and should government schools continue to underperform despite having qualified teachers. He reminded teachers, particularly those in remote areas, to view their challenges as opportunities to serve. He assured that strict monitoring and vigilance would be in place from his end to ensure that no compromises are made in the education system.
Two resource persons from the district headquarters, Kawang Tekhil and Ampee Taijong, gave detailed presentations on the Parakh Sarvekshan assessment, the CBSE examination pattern, and strategies to improve performance in the upcoming Parakh Sarvekshan slated for November this year.
The key point of discussion during the meeting was the need to merge certain schools with fewer than 10 students, especially those located within 1 km of each other, to improve the teacher-student ratio and the overall efficiency of the schools.
ZPM Yatdam Kepseng Khunkho addressed the gathering, urging teachers to remain at their posts during the academic session and fulfill their duties diligently. She highlighted the importance of a strong teacher presence in the schools to ensure consistent student progress.
