TEZU, Apr 12:
An awareness camp and training programme on protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) act 2012 was held here at BRC Hall under the aegis of department of Integrated Child Development Services.
The programme started with a thorough session on juvenile related cases pertaining to the act by advocate Sasamlu Minin. Various procedures for appeal and disposal of cases were explained by her.
The Police department gave a session on filing of complaints under relevant sections of IPC. It is pertinent to mention here that nine cases were registered under the POCSO Act in the district from 2013 to 2017. Out of which 7 were registered in Tezu circle and 2 in Sunpura.
The district legal services authority explained about rights of victims to avail free legal services under this act.
This was followed by a presentation from medical team on know how’s to provide various facilities and aids to minor victims. Later a group discussion was conducted on POCSO Act for the knowledge of the participants.
