NAMSAI, June 17: Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, today participated in the Zonal Seminar of the ‘Professional Meet and Media Interaction’ program held at the Multipurpose Cultural Hall, Namsai. The event was organized to commemorate 11 glorious years of Seva, Sushasan aur Garib Kalyan under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the gathering, Chowna Mein lauded the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, which has ushered in a new era of inclusive development, economic reforms, and people-centric governance across the country, especially in the Northeast. He emphasized that under PM Modi's stewardship, the region has moved from the margins to the mainstream of national development.
The Deputy CM highlighted the significant outcomes of the recent Rising Northeast initiative, particularly the Northeast Investment Summit held in New Delhi. He noted that the summit witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading industrialists and received a powerful endorsement from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, who described the Northeast as the "engine of growth for the 21st century." The region, once referred to as the ‘Seven Sisters’, is now being celebrated as Ashta Lakshmi (including Sikkim), a symbol of prosperity and potential.
Mein underlined that the summit marked a transformative moment of how the Northeast is viewed today, not just as a region of scenic beauty and cultural richness but as a thriving hub for entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development. He also pointed to the substantial investment commitments made during the summit as a testament to the growing confidence in the region's future.
In his address, the Deputy CM also highlighted the immense tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh. With its enchanting landscapes, deep-rooted tribal traditions, and spiritual significance, the state offers numerous avenues for Heritage, Pilgrimage, Adventure, Eco, and Tribal Tourism, he said.
Popular destinations such as Tawang, Mechukha, Dirang, Itanagar, and Namdapha National Park were highlighted for their growing appeal to both domestic and international visitors. Mein also mentioned upcoming efforts to develop historic sites linked to World War II, including the Stilwell Road, with initiatives such as the construction of a WWII Museum and commemorative rallies of WW II during the International Pangsau Pass Winter Festival.
To boost tourism and encourage longer stays, the government is working to enrich the visitor experience through activities like trekking, rafting, kayaking, nature trails, and immersive cultural programs, he added.
Also present in the program were MP & National Secretary(BJP), Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MP, Shri Tapir Gao, Minister of WCD, Culturals Affairs and Science & Technology, Smti Dasanglu Pul, MLA, Chau Zingnu Namchoom and others.
