DAPORIJO, Sep 4: In a major breakthrough, Daporijo Police have apprehended nine individuals in connection with the abduction and subsequent murder of Sanjay Nath, whose body was discovered buried near the Subansiri riverbank. The arrests came after a relentless investigation that began with the registration of a Zero FIR by the Daporijo Police on September 1 last.
Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police  Upper Subansiri  Thuten Jampa informed that, the case came to light when Silapather Police Station in Assam reported the abduction of one Sanjay Nath, by a primary suspect being identified as Tabu Doni.
Following the FIR, Daporijo Police launched a comprehensive investigation under Sections 140(3)/3(5) BNS, establishing special teams led by DySP Gamli Loyi. The investigation was spearheaded by Inspector Jawpha Wangsa (OC PS Daporijo) and included a dedicated team comprising SI Johny Tasung, SI Runa Dada, Head Constable Ibrahim Khalil, and other constables.
On September 2 last, the investigation took a pivotal turn when the police received critical information about Nath's possible location. Acting swiftly, the police, accompanied by Magistrate Goken Koyu, discovered Nath's body buried approximately 7 km from Daporijo, near the Subansiri riverbank enroute to Taliha. The body was exhumed, identified as Sanjay Nath, and sent to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination.
In a coordinated operation, six individuals were arrested on the same day for their alleged involvement in the abduction and concealment of Nath's body. The arrested individuals are:

Later, Doni, along with Jeke Marbom, Arjun Ramsyari, and Tai Lamdik, attempted to capture Nath’s companion, Arun Chetry, but failed. Nath was then moved to Tai Lamdik's residence in Kuporijo, where the assault continued, ultimately resulting in his death.
The perpetrators, realizing the gravity of their crime, decided to conceal the body by burying it in a remote location before making a last attempt to give medical aid at the District Hospital Daporijo, but the doctor declared Nath brought dead.
