Seppa, May 24: A historic milestone in the progress of the ambitious Frontier Highway project from Ladda to Sarli was achieved today with the formal launch of compensation disbursement to the Project Affected Families of East Kameng district. The event was attended by Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, who was the Chief Guest. Also present were Mama Natung, Minister (Home, PHED, ISBA and DOIA), along with MLAs Hayeng Mangfi and Kumar Waii.
The event began with an inaugural address by East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Nigam, who presented an overview of the Frontier Highway project and detailed the concerted efforts made by the district administration to ensure timely and transparent completion of the land acquisition process. The DC highlighted the crucial role played by local stakeholders in facilitating smooth progress on this nationally significant initiative.
In the ceremonial function attended by senior dignitaries , GBs and public, the Union Minister handed over compensation cheques to ten Project Affected Family whose land are falling in right of way (RoW) of the Frontier Highway. In his keynote speech, Kiren Rijiju spoke at length about the vision behind the Frontier Highway, emphasising its strategic importance for the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh. He remarked that the project, with a staggering investment of Rs 42,000 crores, is one of the largest infrastructure undertakings in the country and will bring transformative development to remote and border regions. The Union Minister called upon the citizens of East Kameng and adjoining areas to extend their wholehearted support to the project, underlining its long-term benefits for connectivity, national security, and economic growth.
While today marked the formal launch of the disbursement process, the Deputy Commissioner announced that the regular compensation disbursal will begin from May 26, during which village-wise Project Affected Family can submit required documents for disbursal of compensation amount.
The event marked a meaningful step forward in the realization of the Frontier Highway project, reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and strategic connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.
