Assembly passes AP Private Educational Institutions Bill
NAHARLAGUN, Mar 7: The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly today passed the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions (Regulatory Commission) Bill, 2017 during the second day sitting of its eleventh session.
The bill would provide for establishment of a Regulatory Commission and Regulatory mechanism in the state for the purpose of ensuring appropriate standard of admission, teaching, examination, research and protection of interest of students in the Private Educational Institutions and for matters
connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Education Minister Honchun Ngandam said that government is working on providing quality education and welfare of the coming generation, adding that it is the major concern of everyone in society. He
informed that a regulatory mechanism was highly necessary in view of mushrooming of private
institutions in the state, malfunctioning of these institutions, besides issue of certificates of
private universities. Advocating for passing of the bill for regulation of the private institutions in
the state, Ngandam clarified that the bill is not contradictory to investment by private sectors. He
also appreciated the members for supporting the bill for betterment of the students and modification of
the education system before moving for consideration of the bill for passing. Later the house passed
the bill by voice vote.
Supporting the bill, members Kento Rina, Paknga Bage, Mutchu Mithi, Pani Taram, Wangki Lowang, Phosum Khimhun, Japu Deru, Tapang Taloh, Dr Mohesh Chai, DCM Chowna Mein and Wanglin Lowangdong emphasized on promoting quality education in the state, adding human resource development is very important for over all development of the state. All members advocated for setting up of a regulatory body for controlling the functioning of private educational institutions.
