ITANAGAR, Oct 2: On the eve of the launch of ‘Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan (HAA)’ here at Indira Gandhi Park, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today administered the pledge of making Arunachal better, to a massive gathering of people representing different NGOs, student community, government bodies, CBOs and various civil society organisations from across the state.
Coinciding with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the pledge takers resolved to become responsible citizens, work for social harmony and protect the state’s environment. The movement also aims to restore Arunachal its crowning glory and make it  an ‘island of peace’. There was also resolution by the gathering to work as citizen police to maintain law and order and refrain from any illegal act.
Earlier in his speech, Chief Minister said that HAA has come into being to give thrust to the Team Arunachal campaign. He called on the people to prioritise the Arunachalee identity before one's respective tribe adding that to bring together all tribal communities, government exercises such as budget preparation involve consultation with all community bodies. However, there are certain elements that we must fight who are trying to derail the unity and peace in the state, CM said. 
Asserting that breakdown in law and order discourages investment, which is vital for economic development of the state, maintaining law and order is of high priority and people need to be made equal participant in the process. HAA will be continued till 2024 without use of a single penny from government exchequer and funding for the campaign will be sourced from corporate sector, CM informed. He also suggested that HAA campaign should reach out to people on issues such as language preservation and promotion, drug awareness, prevention of money culture in election etc.
Earlier, he released a "Picture Gandhi",  a best-selling book on Mahatma Gandhi published for the children and translated into five tribal languages of Arunachal namely Adi, Apatani, Mishmi, Nyishi, Nocte and also Bodo language of Assam. The book is originally written in English by award-winning author Sandhya Rao and the 6 translators from 6 different tribes of Arunachal and Assam were also felicitated by the CM. With the effort to sensitize young minds about energy sustainability and environmental care, he launched the solar mission and administered pledge to students from various schools to play the role of Student Solar Ambassadors. Pledge on Swachhta Hi Sewa was also administered.
Earlier during the day, Itanagar Municipal Council in collaboration with District Administration Capital Complex organised Shramdaan at IG Park. Chief Minister along with the Council of Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP, senior officers and officials actively participated in the mass social service to get rid of plastic wastes. CMO
