ITANAGAR, Jul 1: A weeklong painting and art exhibition embodying the theme "the awakening", commenced here today at the Chimchoo art gallery, Itanagar.
Director, Department of Art and Culture, Opak Gao was invited as chief guest on the day.
Highly fascinated with the creativity and use of vibrant colors in the paintings, the Director, after taking a tour of the gallery commended the artistic works of the painters.
The event saw huge participation from students, public, art lovers, artists, and photographers of all ages and mediums.
The artworks on display include more than 30 pieces of paintings and few sculptures made by budding artists with oil, pencil, watercolor and other forms, showcasing the state's diverse culture and creative arts that also epitomizes the flavor of the region.
Artist Jene Hai while talking about one of its exclusive works titled "culture & modernization" said through his work he wants to highlight how indigenous tribal culture and traditions are being threatened by the advent of modernization.
Taking the opportunity, Hai also urged upon the state government to create separate Art teaching posts in colleges and schools to provide Artists a livelihood in addition to helping students improve their basic artistic skills.
The artists whose artworks are on display are Yumlam Tana, Dakli Gara, Joon Dulom, Gyamar Nanam, Kampi Riba, Bano Tatak, Matu Mara, Yongrang Poddum, Hibu Tamo, Ajay Bhattacharya, Punyo Chobin, Padmasree Mamang Dai.
