ZIRO, Mar 16: State Bank of India, Ziro in collaboration with the district administration conducted a one day workshop on digital India and cashless transaction at DC Conference Hall on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by ADC Nending Chatung.
EAC Lod Taker in his deliberation on Digital India and cashless transaction highlighted various applications that could be used for cashless transaction. Emphasizing on the need to seed the Aadhar numbers with the bank accounts, he informed that the most important benefit of seeding the number is receiving social welfare scheme payments and other benefits from various schemes run by the government of India like Direct Benefits Transfer for LGP cylinder subsidy, MNREGA, tribal welfare schemes, scholarships, subsidy for commodity products and country wide access. This ensures that the government money reaches to the genuine beneficiaries.
S. Basumutary, Chief Manager, Lead Bank, Ziro and D. Mili, General Manager, SBI, Ziro were also the resource persons for the workshop.
Secretary, Chamber of Commerce, Talyang Sambyo suggested for providing practical workshops on cashless transactions. He further appealed to the SBI staff to be polite to the villagers specially during banking process.
The workshop was attended by representatives from business community, NGOs and public.
