 PASIGHAT, Mar 16: Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak today inaugurated a two-day training program on agro-based and cottage industry at the conference hall of College of Horticulture, Pasighat. The training is being organized by Ponung Ering Angu, DD (ICDS) and Inty Ering, Dr. NG Pillo, Dr. K Momin and Dr. RC Shakywar are imparting the training as resource persons. The sessions will cover topics like food preservation, flower preservation mushroom cultivation and preservation, candle making etc and fifty rural women trainees from in and around Pasighat and Mebo are participating.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Tatak appreciated the intervention of DD (ICDS) in the arena of women’s empowerment adding that women in rural areas should steadily make strides in economic development, entrepreneurship and wider social changes through collective action and peer support. The department should organize more training programs to provide skills that give employability to women and to provide competencies and skill that enable women to become self-employed/entrepreneurs, opined Tatak.

The DC advised the participants to form cooperative societies to get better market opportunities of their products. Taking privilege, he also informed various government schemes being provided by the state government for upliftment of womenfolk.
