Itanagar, May 24: In a major initiative to promote higher education and support students across the state, the Department of Education, has released stipends for 8,501 students enrolled in various colleges and universities for the academic year 2024–25. The government will soon disburse the released scholarships to the students.
This financial assistance is provided under the Arunachal Pradesh Stipend Scheme, a fully state-funded program. Each eligible student will receive a stipend of ₹16,400, which will be directly credited to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS), using the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
However, the Department has identified that 796 students are currently unable to receive the stipend due to Aadhaar seeding issues in their bank accounts. Affected students are advised to visit their respective bank branches at the earliest to resolve these discrepancies. For any assistance or clarification, students may contact the Department’s dedicated Helpdesk at +91 60099 24943 (available via WhatsApp, phone call, or message during office hours).
The Department also informed students who have applied for the Post Matric Scholarship under the Umbrella Scheme, funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, that disbursement has been delayed. This delay is due to pending administrative and technical coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, relating to the transition from PFMS to IFMS under the new SNA-based account operating system and SNA-SPARSH, a Reserve Bank of India-managed payment platform.
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh is actively engaging with the concerned central ministries to expedite the resolution of these issues. In the meantime, students are kindly requested to remain patient and cooperative as the matter is being addressed at the national level.
Speaking on the initiative, Minister of Education, Pasang Dorjee Sona, stated:“Education is the cornerstone of progress, and our students deserve every support on their academic journey. The release of this stipend is a reaffirmation of our commitment to empowering our youth. I urge students facing issues to reach out through the official helpdesk, and I assure you that we are working diligently with central ministries to resolve the scholarship delays. Your patience and cooperation are deeply appreciated.”
The Department of Education remains committed to the educational advancement and well-being of Arunachal Pradesh’s student community and assures continuous support through all appropriate channels, a release stated.
